It isn't just giving them better school dinners that's needed but stopping them from eating the same crap at home too. Fast food "restaurants" such as McDonalds and Burger King are at least partially to blame, as well as the parents, who logically could be charged with child abuse.

True, but I suppose that you have to start somewhere.

Now I agree that fast food restaurants are a big problem when it comes to the obesity and unbalanced diet of todays kids but, come on child abuse??

Well it's obviously not as bad as most cases of child abuse but if parents feed their children nothing but fast food, it is causing them to become unhealthy and in the long run this can leave children with problems just as bad as those who suffer other forms of child abuse.

Obviously a simple example is that they become obese and become bullied at school, and then eat more crap because they are depressed.

I saw Jamie's series on C4. He has done some really great work on this. Hopefully he will get to continue

As far as the parents are concerned , i think that they have just got lazy .Partly because of the food market where they have made things so easy for them just to stick a burger under the grill with some chips , its no preperation involved . Our kids get a proper dinner ie mash potato and grilled chicken that sort of thing .

Again, the schools are trying their best and as far as I know here, they don't have vending machines anymore but bad eatign starts in the home, I've seen people give toddlers bottles of irn bru to shut them up instead of a dummy....

If you're brought up eating crap (that's most likely, addictive too) then it's kinda hard to stop, especially at that age.

Plus kids need to exercise alot more instead of playing their playstations and watching TV all night.

I agree Kids dont exercize enough but then its hard to let them out at this age with the threat of them being kidnapped and raped . I think its going to take alot to change things around but as a nation we've got to eat alot more healthier

Bah I don't pay digs at all here and my mum puts up with all of my crap so I think I'll stay put.

I disagree about the not letting kids out thing. They need a certain amount of protection but if my mum didn't let me go out and play football every night or get up to the usual trouble teenage boys do then I'd be unfit too and much less socially comfortable and confident with other's if that's the proper way to put it. People in who tend not to go out alot are the ones who are more introverted and find social situations hard to cope with as opposed to people who are out mingling all the time.

There's been what, about 5 child murders in the UK in the past few year? 5 too many but it's not exactly a case of kids being picked up left, right and centre.
