Oh, I notice the poverty here. Our politicians ignore it.

I think the pledge is a show of appreciation for the people who fought for this country's freedom. Just because the system might not work for everyone doesn't mean people should not appreciate the fact we are a free nation. It just shows that we are not forgetting the people who died to ensure us of the life we have today.

I don't think a 2 second pledge each day is so much to ask. Especially since we teach no American history in our school.
