1. Do you believe in the practice of euthanasia? Why or why not?
Yes, I do. If someone is suffering and there is no hope of them ever recovering, I believe it is their right to say "I want to die peacefully". I've been unfortunate enough in my life to have seen a very close family member suffer needlessly when there was never a hope for recovery. If our dog is suffering, we'll put them to sleep, but if a human is suffering, they have to continue to suffer. I realize that there is a huge difference between the value of a human's life and the value of a dog's life, but to me it's the same principal behind it.
2. If you had a painful life-threatening disease, would you wish to die naturally or die by means of euthanasia?
If there was no hope of ever recovering, then I would want to end my life.
3. If a loved one, or close friend had a painful life threatening disease, would you want them to die naturally or by means of euthanasia?
Like I said, I've seen a loved one die naturally from a terminal illness. To put it plain and simple, it sucked. It was the worst thing I've ever had to live through.
4. Do you think euthanasia should become legalized? Why or why not?
That is a difficult question. I think it should be legal, but I worry that people will take advantage of it. However, I don't think euthanasia will ever become legalized. At least not with our current political leaders in office.
5. Euthanasia is legal when it pertains to animals. Would you allow your pet to die by euthanasia? If so, is it the same as a person dieing from euthanasia? Why?
I mentioned that in an earlier answer. No, I would never allow my pet to suffer needlessly. It would break my heart to have to put her to sleep, but I wouldn't want to see my dog suffering either. Human life holds more value in society than that of an animal. But, that leads to this question, why is it OK to let a human suffer, but if you keep a pet alive that is terminally ill it is considered inhumane?
