Thanks. It's just a shame it was so dark, I had to use ISO1600 which means that they are very grainy. It doesn't seem so bad at low resolution on here, but to print the originals they'd be very grainy indeed

It isn't the squirrels fault that some idiots brought them over here however long ago though. It's fair enough to try to preserve the red ones, but it shouldn't be done by killing the grey ones - how would any of us like it if someone came up to us and said we had to be killed because our ancestors were brough here a few generations back? I know animals and people =/= the same thing but still, it isn't fair to kill them I don't think.

Yeah, killing them isn't very nice - but there needs to be some sort of breeding and re-introduction scheme for red squirrels, forcing the greys out of certain areas.

Thanks I don't often do vertical panoramas, but the sky looked so good yesterday that I just *had* to do it. I might take my tripod next time and try to get all the way over to 180° and not just 90° like that one.

I love the last one Neil, beautiful!

No use of Photoshop on this one, apart from the usual colour corrections / RAW conversions! The optics were all done with a studio flash and the settings of the camera (and some cardboard and lots of tape) . I'm pretty happy with the results .

Who the **** are you? Do you even know the situation with Squirrels in the UK? I doubt you do. Get back to your kebab shop.

Displacement of red squirrels

In the United Kingdom, the animal is known simply as the grey squirrel and it has few natural predators. This has aided their rapid population growth and has led to the species being classed as a pest. Measures are being devised to reduce their numbers, including one plan for famous television chefs to promote the idea of eating gray squirrels.[1] In areas where relict populations of red squirrels survive, such as the island of Anglesey, programmes seeking to eradicate gray squirrels are in progress in an effort to allow red squirrel populations to recover.
Quote:
The fact is they are another increasing pest and officially classified as vermin.
They are not indigenous to the UK , Grey squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) were brought over to England from North America 130 years ago and have now driven our own Red Squirrel out of their natural habitat.
Since then, they have become a pest, with an estimated population of 2.5 million in England, Wales and central Scotland.
The population rapidly displaced the native Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), which once had a population of five million but which now number about 150,000 and which scientists say could be wiped out within a decade.
The Red cannot compete for food with the Grey, and is also highly susceptible to the fatal parapox virus, which the Grey carries but to which it is immune.
The Red Squirrel is now only found in relatively small areas of the country. Campaigns are continuing across the country to breed more Reds.
The Red Squirrel is approximately 2/3 the size of the Grey, they are not able to co-exist, so are unlikely to be found in the same habitat.

Vermin control

This subject generally refers to the control of certain pests, on farmland and other suitable areas, and includes rats, rabbits, grey squirrels and foxes.
Calibre usage

.22 rim-fire: small pests such as rats, rabbits and grey squirrels.
Quote:
Homeowners can legally despatch grey squirrels in almost any way - short of bombing them or firing arrows at them.
Sterilisation plan for grey squirrels
Have your say: Should we protect or persecute squirrels
It is illegal to release grey squirrels or to allow them to escape into the wild, under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, so anyone who catches one is obliged to kill it.

Take note of the last bit Neil, I expect to see new pictures next week

Hey, people, who the **** is this Mongoooooooose character who thinks is larger than life but in fact lives in a sewer with rats and filthy houses that needed to be a show to be cleaned up? In a country that supports war and is a pet of the US?

Please, deaaaaar, next time you come for holidays in Greece, remind me to ask my brother to give you a ****, because, apparently, you came seeking for what all of you british boys and girls are seeking here in Greece and no one was interested to give you any. I'll try to persuade my brother to be a good sport. Just give me AT LEAST 2 weeks notice because I have to ask him nicely many times. OK, honey?
