There's nothing to stop you getting a good photo on a compact camera, it's just about knowing what you're doing. You could get an SLR and end up with shit photos. Having an SLR doesn't make every photo you take instantly amazing, it is just a more sophisticated tool to allow you to capture something as you want it, not just as the camera 'thinks' you might want it.

I started a project on FlickR - Project Advent. There are other such groups on there, but as you might expect they have specific Christmas themes. My idea was to shoot the most random things that I could find, 1 per day, through the period of advent. Here are the first 6 days so far -

Day 01 - Hooked

Thanks I started with making my cards last year, but only used little handmade stickers that I'd bought. This year I wanted to put more effort in so I started to find some little origami designs and then just use appropriate stickers as little extras. Then for the inside I use my calligraphy pens and have a few nice little layouts. I'm trying to make each card unique, so no two are exactly the same.

Just this afternoon:



From tomorrow on it will be warmer again . The last official white Christmas recorded here was in 1981 - I never even lived through one . But this was all just frost anyway, no snow!
