Well 'blooming' sounds like the opposite of what HDR achieves - usually in a single shot if you have something very bright and something very dark you have to find a balance, so either way you end up with part very dark or part very bright. With HDR you take seperate shots at +/- exposure and merge them to create a balance. You can then get more detail into the bright and dark areas without either being to any extreme.

All HDR .

Oh and I've got one of my photographs in the Canon, The Assignment contest for The Netherlands, if you feel like voting, I'd be very grateful : http://ta.canon-europe.com/?pg=galle...o4810b47dde30b. Contests where they let the public vote to filter out the most popular ones are pretty stupid... but well, the prices are nice, so all votes are more than welcome .

Where is this Sara ? really good !

Nice pics too again Neil

Jess, it's actually in The Netherlands (National Park 'Zuid Kennemerland'), which is only about 25km from Amsterdam . An area of 38 square kilometers with mainly sand dunes, some forests and coastal beaches.

I usually avoid wiki like the plague but in this case it was easy;

High dynamic range rendering (HDRR or HDR Rendering), also known as high dynamic range lighting, is the rendering of 3D computer graphics scenes by using lighting calculations done in a larger dynamic range. Video games and computer generated movies benefit from this as it creates more realistic scenes than with the previous lighting model (referred to as "low dynamic range lighting" or "standard lighting").
