Actor Pitches Film Inspired by Cubs Fan
LOS ANGELES - Hollywood may score after an actor pitched a movie inspired by the Chicago Cubs fan who interfered with a foul ball.
Joe Roth's Revolution Studios has given the thumbs-up to a proposal by Kevin James (news), star of the CBS sitcom "The King of Queens." James could star in the project, said a spokeswoman for Revolution.
The idea was inspired by Tuesday's playoff game between the Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins in which a fan reached for a foul fly ball and interfered with outfielder Moises Alou.
Florida went on to score and win the game, leading irate spectators to accuse the fan of costing the Cubs a trip to the World Series (news - web sites).
James pitched the idea the night of the game, the spokeswoman said. The script won't be based on actual events or individuals involved, she added.
The studio plans to hire a writer who will work with James to develop a script.
