I rest my case.....

Sexuality is not cut and dried. What you describe above is a combination of Bisexuality and experimentation with straight sex by Gays. Straight people also experiment with same gender sex. It does not change one's sexual orientation.

There is a difference between being able to do it and whether you should do it. Straight and Gay is really less about sex and more about overall orientation. Who will you love? Which gender are you most overall attracted to? If it's equal or generally centered..you are Bisexual...if it leans towards one sex...you are Gay or Straight. Add that you have a sliding scale running from both ends of the spectrum. But NO ONE chooses what they are.

Great! So after you take in the reality of your gay daughter and see/experience it all first hand...how are those Sunday sermons going to sound to you when they tell you your daughter is nothing but a sinful deviant who most likely is also a pedophile and is going to go to hell (all using Christian Right Logic..not facts)...yet it goes against everything you know about your daughter firsthand?
yet again u are assuming a lot and from what u have written u clearly do not attend church , gay people are not treated this way. Gay people already acknowledge that teh bible doesn not agree with being homosexual.

Dawn
Your church may not use such wording. It doesn't change the fact that the Christian Right promotes these ideas in the media.

So how are they treated? "Love the sinner, but not the sin." So you get to love who you want to your hearts content...a gay person is sinning by doing the same. They've made the "choice" to not be heterosexual. You simply got to just go with your attraction. How convenient.

Your Bible has been used to justify discrimination of whole peoples for centuries. When will you learn from past mistakes? The Bible does not need to be rejected wholly. But you do need to recognize repeated patterns that have proven to be crimes against humanity where they were once considered righteous behavior....before ignorance was overcome.

Default Yo

This little discussion makes me think of that banner...

"God Made Adam and Eve - not Adam and Steve!"

We are all born with orginal Sin... Man fell, and thus allowed death - and everything associated with Death (Disease, Sexual corruption, Pride, Lust, Envy, War, Famine etc etc) into the world... that was our choice, and today we see moreso than ever the result of our choice.

I remember hearing about some scientist back in the dark-ish ages who believed that when we are born we are pure, and that it is the world that corrupts, and creates our sinful nature. So with this belief, he went on to generate multiple offspring, can't recall how many, but it was in double digits, and proceeded to terminate them directly after birth in order to maintain/preserve their purity...

Unfortunately, because of a choice, the nature that we are born with is a bit mixed up, and our lives require us to correct and rebuild ourselves... but then we find we can't really make it on our own, we need to ask to be rebuilt... Each of us have certain areas in which we are weak, .. But we have free will, and we have God's Law, and we have love! And We have forgiveness and HOPE! There was only one of us who could ever claim to be, and was Perfect. A good example to follow...

Anyway, One QUESTION I WANT TO PUT TO ALL OF YOU:

How would Jesus treat, view homosexual people? Based on what we know about this man and his teachings?

With compassion, with love, charity and with forgiveness, with encouragement and exactly as he would treat you or I... Love one another as I have loved you... Love your neighbour as YOURSELF...

Forget Religion, its a waste of time! Instead Find Jesus! Know Jesus!

Adios Amigos.

Something realistic.
Check works and books from Hubert Reeves (astrophysician), Joël de Rosnay (biologist) and Yves Coppens (paleontologist).
There's a very good book, and easy to understand, in which the 3 of them talk in turn in dialogs with a journalist of our origins. The title is: Origins: Cosmos, Earth and Mankind.
