Well, first of all I am definitely no Preiss and you might know that I quite like Munich. I was referring to the ridiculously religious pride most Bavarians showed in the media today over the new Pope who is a born Bavarian.

You'd think he could have at least chosen a name that 17 others before hadn't taken.

Some suggestions could have been;

Pope Corn
Pope George Ringo (following from John Paul)
Pope Goes the Weasel
H. R. Pope'n Stuff

Right, I can just imagine. You know bavaria is predominately catholic and virtually all traditions are founded on catholic rites. I can just imagine how some might go overboard just about now. Good to hear they slept off their pope buzz by now.

Thanks for the link. I always enjoy reading Der Spiegel but for some reason I never do I'll have to keep the main page bookmarked.
