Default Recent Marvel Comics

I'm a Marvel fanboy...even though I don't actually own a single comic book of theirs, no where round here does Marvel comics...or so I thought.

So whilst having a 3 hours to kill in college the other day I ventured up town and walked into WHSmith to see some Marvel comic books, Spiderman, Iron Man, Ghost Rider and X-Men.

Now, years and years ago I used the internet to research Marvel and learn all the big storylines, villians, etc - especially for Spiderman.

I took a look in this Spiderman comic and it said it was a new story-arc with some old villians returning. But in the contents it had different stories and then "Originally published in blahblah Spiderman Issue #blah" (or summit like that) underneath each story title, and they were totally different issue numbers, I think one was like 124 whilst another would be a story from issue 60-odd and the third from another way out number.

So this confused my tiny little learning-in-progess brain - are they new stories or just old ones republished in smaller parts so that I'm reading 3 different classic storylines in one issue?

Thanks in advance

i stole this from someone lush:

what youre reading are british re-prints of the classic (and not so classic) storylines.

the way these reprints run is that theyre usually comprised of a longer story-arc that might run a few issues and one or two individual, usually unrelated stories (maybe from a different era) sort of like 'healthy filler' - its not essential to the main story of the comic, but they have extra pages to fill.

also, due to the nature of collectors item comics, the chance of you getting a 1965 issue of The Amazing Spiderman is pretty slim, so these collected edition reprints give people a bit of everything - both modern and classic storylines.

No (well...). Just that your previous post gets my vote for useless post of the year. Congratulations.

Well Sir, I was gonna leave it at "I bought it today" but it seemed kinda empty so I added that.

Did you want a review or summit? Cos you'll have a long time waiting, I don't think I'm even gonna read it for a while.

No... I don't care for a review of that.

But please keep us posted with the "I walked by the book today, didn't open it" and the "I opened it but the phone rang, maybe another day".
