There's nothing wrong with wearing a flag around your waist, if that floats your boat. What if you paint the nail on your middle finger in red white and blue nailpolish? Is that disrespectful also? What if you wear a skirt or that has the american flag depicted on it? What about a bra?

The butt is simply a part of the body, for Pete's sake. Richie DIDN'T mean any harm, anyone with half a brain should know that. Maybe he didn't have time to get a custom made shirt... maybe draping it around his shoulders would interfere with his guitar playing. But wearing it around his bottom half is only disrespectful because humans MADE UP this notion that some parts of the body are treated with less dignity than others. In the end, IT'S ALL PART OF THE SAME BODY. That author needs to get over it!
