Default RIP John Peel

This probably won't mean too much to anyone outside Britain here and even at that, folk who aren't particularly into new or indie music but John Peel from the BBC sessions died earlier today.

There's not much more to say except the guy was a true legend and music has lost one of its most passionate followers.

I read a book not to long back about a bouncer from the north of england that ended up being one of the biggest promoters up ther einthe 70s & 80s and he'd let John peel do his roadshow at his gigs when Peel was just starting out n no one else cept the kids would give himt he time of day.

As a thank you, John wrote the foreword and even though it was 30 odd years ago and he's massive now, he still came across as genuinely touched and greatful and just a really nice genuine person.

John peel was a true legend. I shall miss his whitty banter, ecclectic music tastes and especially his festive 50 on radio 1.

Michael Eavis is going to re-name the new bands stage at Glastonbury 'The John Peel Stage'. A fitting tribute to a great man.

As Ana Matronic from the scissor sisters said "No man has ever done so much for music in this generation without writting a song or picking up an instument"
