Finally something you DO agree on.
Vatican never took prisoners, they always slaughtered them, just killing wasn't enough, just torture also not really...
Whatever Saddam, Hitler etc did, it was all much more humane then what the vatican did....
Glad you finally see my point now

tbh I thought the video was kinda ''normal'
When I was 12 -13 we had these VCR's called 'Faces of Death' or something (part 1 - 5) - they were illegal a few years later.
Anyway those video were full of real stuff, like suicided (imaging someone jumpin of a building 100m, and then see how he looks like, same with gun through head etc), accidents etc etc
Geuss that stuff back then made me a bit tolerant to this vidoe...

Hate to burst your bubble, but Faces of Death was largely fake.

It would make me a worse person if I watched the video of Saddam's hanging. Just read the comments underneath the video at you tube and ask yourself if this kind of voyeurism brings out anything worthwhile in people.

Maybe if you had been a victim of the man, but with so many people using it to justify their own hatreds it's feels a cheap, tawdry way of pretending you have morals.

Showing that video is just inhumane and I hope that moderators would reconsider deleting that link, that much we can do here in DC. They don't post other executions or murders in google-video either, do they?

And this besides executing thousands of his fellow citizens, this dictator also brought excellent social benefits, free education and health care to all Iraqis. For the latter, he received UN's UNESCO award. All of this was funded mostly by oil money that he nationalised in the 1970's, making himself a rich man in the process.

Additionally, Saddam improved the women rights e.g. by rejecting the Sharia law. This, in part, decreased his popularity amongst the people.

He was considered to be against communism and islamism, and therefore USA saw him as an excellent ally. When Iraq invaded Iran he had the backing of USA and most Arab countries. Eventually, he got too sure of himself and too greedy, invading Kuwait and that was basically the start of his end. (facts mostly from: http://www.yle.fi/uutiset/ulkomaat/id50232.html - in Finnish).

And Americans (why not Britons as well) should remember that today your societies are in growing extend ruled by fear and terror, slight difference in style compared to Iraq in 80's and 90's, but the core is very similar. New laws are introduced montly to improve security, and these laws affect globally especially at the airports. Downside is that insecurity in peoples minds grows the more people are being scared by extra checks and ridiculous new rules. Of course, for our own safety, but the line draws near (I hope!). TV programmes are made around the topic, crazy 'terror alert' meters are shown on top of the screen etc. Feeling safe by now with your governments ideas? Terrorism aims at terrorizing peoples everyday lives and it has succeeded in that amazingly well so far.

show me more!!! cause i know the crusades were order by the pope but the vatican since it didnt have a full scale army didnt take part. the kings of countrys lik england and frrance, people like richard the lionheart went to war in the middle east. the pope asked them to do it and they agreed but he didnt have contol over there battle tatics that was there own thing. anyway if you use the past to haunt the present then any person can be brought down. mistakes happen what matters is if you learn from them and i didnt hear the pope supporting any war in my lifetime!

but lets not get away from the topic!!

saddam should not have been executed simple as IMO
