I have read and signed the petition:
"Stop Canada's Cruel and Senseless Seal Hunt" petition
from The International Fund for Animal Welfare:
http://www.care2.com/go/z/21410

Please help by speaking out against the largest government
sanctioned slaugher of marine mammals in the world by
signing this petition. Every voice raised against such a
cruel and unnecessary hunt is critical to raising the
public awareness needed to pressure the Canadian
government into change.

Many people are unaware that hundreds of thousands of
baby seals are still being killed each year simply for
their pelts.

Sign the petition:
http://www.care2.com/go/z/21410

Your daily clicks can help us put an end to this cruel
and senseless killing aswell.
Just click: http://babyseals.care2.com/i?p=217423720

You can only click once per day so be sure to tell
all your friends!

Thank you
Natalia Stepic

Just tell me when and where!

By the way, where is Greenpeace in all this? I know the WWF refuse to do anything, but I thought they would have stepped in by now

would you guys be that upset if they were hunting and killing dogs, cats, horses, cows, rats, tuna's, salmons??
Is it because you consider seals and dolphins cute that it's a big deal??
I'm with Jim, I just don't see the big deal about it.

Well I don't think you hunt any of those animals really, but if any animal where killed as brutally as they kill seals then it's wrong.

Most people kill them for their pelts/fur. Officials say the seal hunt provides income to about 12,000 hunters who live in remote communities in eastern Canada, where jobs are scarce. In Iles de la Madeleine, Quebec, 100 miles north of here, seal hunters say theirs is an honest profession.

Well I don't have a job, so I'll go out and start killing people who are annoying, that's worth doing isn't it?

Honest profession?? Sorry, I don't see anything honest about walking up to an innocent animal and bludgering it over the head as honest.. and just for fur? That is just sick.

May be you'd be interested in an update from the field from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW):

With the first phase of Canada's annual seal hunt in the Gulf of St. Lawrence now over, more than 105,000 seals have been killed. Spectacular ice floes transformed into giant white nurseries just weeks ago are now stained red with the blood of seal carcasses as far as the eye can see. This past week they began killing another 200,000 seals in Newfoundland.

The Canadian government maintains that the hunt is humane. But our observers returning from the ice have witnessed numerous acts of cruelty and suffering, from clubbed baby seals left in agony while hunters move quickly onto the next seal, to seals shot and left to die a slow death under the ice. As IFAW's video footage shows, the seal hunt continues to inflict unnecessary suffering and cruelty to baby seals as young as 12 days old.
