P.S the OC can kick both DC and 90201's backside

yay start an OC thread!!!!
Your brother is older isn't he?

The last episode wasn't aimed at new viewers. You didn't have a clue what was going on...didn't know any of the characters and what had been happening..of course you were going to be bored. The last episode was far from their best...it was just part of a longer story arc that took up the last several episodes. Watch the episode where Miranda's mother dies. That's a prime example of the series.

One more thing...hate me if you want..but at 18....you aren't going to relate to a show focused on adult relationships. Leave that for people who have actually been through adult relationships and the dating scene. Unless you are precocious..you haven't hit that point yet in your life.

For those who don't know.....OC stands for Orange County....the County right next to mine with Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm (Long Beach is actually right on the county line, though in Los Angeles County.) Anyone who attempts to rank a network show over an HBO production has no clue. I'm sure OC has it's merits by Network standards...but there is completely different work ethic at HBO that allows it to avoid the formulas and trappings that network programming is rife with. If I were working the Industry..HBO would be the place to be if you want artistic freedom to break new ground with a mass audience to expose it to. I've tried watching Network television after a steady diet of HBO Original Programming.....it just isn't happening. It's nothing but trash on every channel..mostly reality programming making a joke out of human existence and self-serving crap like OC...which was preceded by Dawson's Creek..which was preceded by 90210.

Just how did we wind up relating OC and SATC? They have absolutely nothing to do with each other....the former is for kids...the latter is for adults. Give that rubbish show it's own thread..just like the kids get their own table at Thanksgiving.

I take it serious and as I said I often like what's being said at the end, the morals of the episode so to say. If I wouldn't like it at all, I would not have watched quite a few episodes.
I am just not that impressed by how it is presented. And come on, what they do or say is often way over the top. I mean, not exactly WHAT they say but HOW they do it. And that's hue and cry for the sake of it.
Uhm....exactly what specifically is so over the top. Give a specific scene example. It sounds more like you have neither the life experience as an adult nor know what city life is like. I'm here to tell you that they present it pretty realistically. Most people I find dismissing it do so because they cannot relate it to their lives....there is a reason those living in American Cities took to the show in great numbers..they could relate. You're lucky if you have 3 great friends as in the show to support you as you dealt with the stuff life throws at you. Pick just about anything..I guarantee you I've had my own experience with it...unless it's solely a women's issue.

Know what they want? That is the most unpassable description of Sex And The City I've ever heard.
If they knew what they want the show would have been over after one episode.
Why is that unpassable?? Of course they knew what they wanted!! Take Charlotte, she wanted the perfect man with the perfect wedding, only to find out that it doesn't exist, therefore making her more open to a real relationship with someone who might not be perfect looking but who was in fact perfect for her. Samantha refused to admit that she wanted love and a relationship and found that with Smith she could be herself and have what she secretly did want. These are 90's women who are told they can have it all without losing themselves, something they didn't want.
And knowing what you want and finding what you want are 2 different things, that's whay it lasted for 6 seasons.

I admit that I don't know what living in NYC is like, not at all.
I don't say what the show transports is wrong or unreal, but to me it is sometimes presented surreal. I don't remember a specific example right now. But I often throw my hands up in horror because I think it is unbelievable how they react to the most common and simple things in life with so much attention. Only to come out with what everyone should already know at the end. I find that more often childish, not adult.

Ok, now I remember an example. The last episode that was on here was the one where Carrie arrived in Paris to meet Aleksandr. How she behaved. I mean, hello? She looked like she had her first day in school thinking it's just a new playground.

Even good situated people struggle with life. They don't immediately know what they want or where there's a lack of things. And the show reflects on that.

Kind of.. although I think the underlying theme was that they knew what they wanted, like we all do. The fun is just getting there!

Well ok, then let's say I am not as impressed as a lot of people are with how they get there. I don't consider it bad either.

Most men are intimidated by the show though. Here are 4 women who openly discuss sex. Who are single but not desperate and who know what they want... most men can't handle that!
I think what freaks men out about this show is the fact that women talk this way among themselves and now all guys are afraid that all his gf/spouse friends know how good/bad he is when it comes to sex

It´s a really cool show, and i dont consider it a "chick" thing at all...those who think that clearly havent watched it.

I really miss it..sunday nights arent them same
