Default Sex sells....??? or Music sells......?

What u guys think which sells today. seeing all the songs which have steamy video or sexy artist in it are toping every where. I just have to say the sex in music is more important today for artist to sell music then music it self.
I never seen any R&B/Hip hop video without any sexy stuff init. I think people start watching video just for those sexy stuff first and hook to the sexy artist and then just for that they buy the album. What sick thing happeing.

So whats ur opnion??.

Nowadays I would say sex sells, it used to be all about the music, but like you said with the steamy videos and such, that seems to be more important.
But in society in general sex is used to sell stuff, so I guess it was only a matter of time before the music industry gave into it all!

I reckon both sell, if its a good song it doesnt need sex to help it along and vice versa. It just depends on the image of the person/people trying to sell their record.

I think that today it is both, but using sex to sell isn't new...Elvis did it and so did the Beatles, and that was quite a while ago now.

It is done more now, but there is still plenty of good music.

The advertising industry in general uses sex to sell almost everything anymore. It's something that we all do, even if we don't openly talk about it, so it's something everyone can relate to. I don't necessarily agree with it, but unfortunately that's the way of the world today.

JBJ.....lately [meaning like the last 5 years] its CLEARLY been more about the look, the style, what he puts on, his hair...thats the way backstage sees it i guess lol

with other artists like erm Rachel Stevens its clearly alot more about thier style/image too

there are genuine bands who get up on stage and dont care how they look and to me it seems the only bands these days that dont 'care' so much are the 80s bands that are still going like Thunder and Skid Row i guess

everything in the charts is about looks not telents, meaning sex sells..

I agree about today's artists not being able to sing, but I don't think Elvis could sing...sounded way to cheesy and nervous all the time.
