I think smoking is disgusting but drinking is much more dangerous. No one has ever died from smoking a pack of cigarettes. It takes years for a person to develop a smoking-related illness and even then, they're really only a danger to themself. However, if a person has a few drinks and gets behind the wheel of a car they can injure/kill not only themself but innocent people.

if i sit in the pub drinking and get a taxi home i'm doing no harm to anyoen except myself.

if i'm in the pub and someone next to me is smokign they're doign me harm.

obviously there are people that drink and drive or fight or whatever but i still say more people r likely to come to harm in a pub and club full fo smokers than due to the people in there drinking.

ok, i enjoy drinking from time to time but never too much, hard to see me drunk, nearly no chance ! and i'm a smoker since 14 years, only outside and about 7 a day now, which is not soo bad ! I'd say, if we're talking about health, both are dangerous, differently but for me they are at the same "level", about behaviour alcohol is worse, it can touch the others and not only you, i know smoking too ... but i'm thinking of many violence because of alcohol and car accident ... so alcohol is worse for me. (and it gives so much money to the gouvernement )

smoking what?

I don't like cigarettes. I used to smoke for years, but kicked it - let's see - at least 10 years ago. If someone else smokes, it doesn't bother me too much, unless I get the "craving" again. I don't like people smoking while I eat.

Drinking? I love my glass of wine while cooking and beer should go with every dinner. If you are talking about a drunk - no thanks. Have some beer while watching a game, or going out - as long as everybody is having fun - that is just fine.

yep, sometimes it is that bad that all I have to do is watch a movie with a character smoking. Wants me go back and enjoy again. Guess I have an ultra addictive personality. I do give in every couple of years when I am drunk in a bar (cause usually I don't get drunk ) and I am with someone who smokes. Then I'll try one - never finish it though. It is quite pathetic really, cause I crave the taste and enjoyment it brought back then, but I know even if I would smoke a cigarette - it would taste bad and I wouldn't enjoy it

I personally think that smoking is the worst habit, even though I did smoke. In Canada, there are warnings on every pack of cigarettes, and the equilivant of a small town dies every year from smoking related illnesses (according to StatsCan). Studies are being done on the long term effects of second hand smoke. There is a waitress in Ottawa who worked in a bar for almost all of her life and now she is battling lung cancer. She never smoked a day in her life.

Drinking is no better. There are long term effects associated with it as well. But it has the potential to cause short term problems (ie. drinking and driving). But it's drinking to excess that is the problem. There's nothing wrong with having a glass of wine with dinner or having a beer with friends. Having several glasses of wine and several beers with friends is where the problem lies. If you go out and get trashed each and every night, you'll be looking for a new liver soon.

If you are going to smoke or drink, at least do it in moderation.
