Sony.. the bastards!

Youd think youd be relativly safe with a huge well known firm like.. but youd be wrong.

I read about this a few days ago, it is completely stupid and will only cause people to buy less of their cd's when they find out.

none of this should be an issue if you de-activate the 'autorun' function in windows... is that correct?

No, it installs itself as soon as you try to run the CD or try to listen to it.

The Star Wars Episode II soundtrack I have is copy protected such that it won't run on pcs or macs, though there are ways around everything like that, but ones that install things like this on your machine without your consent is wrong. I hope someone tries to sue them for it and wins.

they deserve all the bad press and 'stolen' mp3s they can imagine. There is no reason for them to be blocking the fair use practice on people legitimately buying their cds. May their profits plummet.

How do you get around it? I have recently been very annoyed that I can't put my Aerosmith Best Of onto my iPod....

With the one I had you could simply get a pen and colour over the very inside of the disc, the part that held the information to tell pc's not to load it.

So, if I do that, what exactly is the chance that I will destroy my CD?

Edit: This was apparently my 5000th post, woooo!

It may not work the same with every disc, I just read that it worked on this disc I have, and it did work.
