Pro Evo 2008 aint a bad game, people are just moaning about it because the 'edit' function is crap compared to other versions for some reason.

Personally I couldn't care less about this, as long as the game is good, I don't care about the official lisence/ real names/ teams.

Only other problem is the online mode which was lagging really badly when it was first released, Konami have been trying to sort it out, i've not been back on to try it again yet though. I have heard it is a lot better now.

I was never really fussed about the edit mode on PES until I started downloading the option file updates and then you kinda get used to it. I hate playing with Man Red at the Trad Brix stadium now and refuse to spend over £40 on a game that is only a half-arsed attempt and doesn't even offer a way to fix said half-arsedness, even if the gameplay is good.

Fifa has apparently come on leaps and bounds in the playability stakes so my money is on that - although not at £50!! I'll wait till it comes down in price. Maybe I've just gotten too used to paying £30 max for new PS2 titles but £50 is a joke!

i think pro evo 2008 is astounding.

really. i wasnt aware it got any bad press at all except for some jumpiness on other formats because it was an xbox 360 port?...

the fifa advert with ronaldhino with that ridiculous goal that makes it look like fifa street is enough to put me off.

the edit function is shit compared to the last ones but since rangers are licensed i.e. you can't change shit except the home stadium then it doesn't bother me.

I have a couple of different option files, not tried them out yet though, will happily send them to ya if u choose pes 2008

And i agree with you about £50 being ridiculous for a new game. I tend to be ordering them from play.com, £40 each, still a bit of a piss take, but a bit more bareable!!!

i bought pro evo on release day. apart from that i don't think ive bought a new game for well over a year

next on the list is fight night and call of duty 4 if they come up soon

I'm actually just downloading both of the free demos from PSN Network so I'll compare them myself and make up my mind as to which to go with. I heard that there are some pretty major bugs in PES though.

The good thing about being able to dl the demos is that you can find out if a game is worth the £40 price-tag before you blow the cash.

I may take you up on those option files though if I go with PES 2008 though mate!

Cool, not sure how good the ones I have are, but theres loads floating around. Sure theres bound to be a decent one.

Might be worth taking a look around on the official playstation forums:

I had the WII, so glad I sold it. Still have the 360 & the ps3 on a HD beamer. The PS3 definitaly blows the 360 away in any way, there is no discussion about that.
360 has far more interesting games, so far....

in a spurt of randomness there was a game section on the radio today and the guy was saying just now because developers know how to work with the 360 they're mainly making games for that then porting it over to the ps3 so that's why there are bugs and means the games don't look as good despite the power of the ps3...

come 3-5 years when the ps3 is really being worked i can't even imagine what the games will be like. the mic thing and touch screen on the DS is still intruiging me never mind anything they'll be able to come up with for next gen consoles.
