Soul mates......??

it all depends what you expect out of it. i'm fairly simple in the respect that i see a soul mate as someone I can trust, that will make me laugh and I have some deep bond with.

other people look or need a whole lot more dependancy than that.

why some people say, soul mates may not make the best couples?

I consider a soulmate as someone i can share things with that i wouldn't tell anyone else, who always knows what to say & do in each situation, who knows me (probably better) than i know myself. I have found a soulmate in my best friend who lives in Berlin. As spunky and jim already said, at the end of the day everybody has a different definition of it and different expectations. Personally i can't see myself having this special bond with anyone else than Pauline. We had so many experiences together, some of which have brought us so close together that i find it hard to imagine that there's someone else out there whom i could consider another soulmate...

I'm with Nathalie here.. I think she basically narrowed it down. I think most people are chasing a dream. Society has indeed said we have to wait for our "soulmate", the perfect partner and I really don't think he exists. That's not being cynical, but I think that is a lot of pressure to put on one person. I would hope that I have a few people that I get my different needs from. Someone that I turn to when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when my soul needs to be healed and so on. If I can find more in one person that would be great, but I'm not counting on it. At the moment, I have a friend who I would class my soulmate.. just because she is the only person who knows me completely and who can cut through my bullsh*t!

Soulmates exist and they do make the best partners

I think the soul mate thing is a little over-reated nowadays, but I do believe in them. Jana defined things perfectly. Also, it doesn't need to be all about romantic love, but about friendships as has been said already.
