i never use the word "soulmate" but if you use it to mean a really deep bond, like really deep platonic friendship, or feeling a lot of love for a person (real love, not just lust), then yes i believe in it. but i dont believe that you can only have one soulmate or special person - youll love lots of ppl in your life, that must be why theres ppl with multiple marriages/relationships.
i think our society should put more emphasis on strong relationships and friendships - ppl go on about the kind of love involving stuff like lust and romance, and while that is great, i think ppl worry about chasing it too much. like ppl have said on this thread, its chasing a dream and its over-rated.
