that"s what exactly i thought last night mousebounce!!!!@#..it"s a simple logic to understand..thank u very much for posting this....
No problem my GNR friend.

Ice, one more thing and I promise that I am done.

Here in the US, we are told that if you want the "real" news you should watch the BBC news, which we get by the way. I also get an Indian news channel, but don't understand a word they are saying.

Don't think we are just trapped with, say, CNN.

You are so right, Mousebounce. CNN thrives on tragedies which they can report on 24/7. And if CNN is covering it all the other media has to compete, so they cover it too.

Here in Canada, 7 grade 10 students died in an avalanche on Saturday, the same day as the 7 astronauts. The same number of deaths, but in Sunday's paper, the space shuttle got several pages of coverage, the students an article.

My point.

And there are only 5 shuttles, 2 have exploded. Not too good of a ratio. And this one was the oldest one. They knew the risks.

I'm not saying you only get CNN, but like someone else pointed out, CNN is the largest and if they cover it everybody covers it. I'm not saying it's not the same in Europe, I just wish people would use their brains a bit more when watching and interpreting the news.

So because they "knew the risks", it's less of a disaster? Um, ok. I guess those 40 people on that train knew the risks too, since there are alot of train wrecks there. It's 2 days later, and you're still harping on the news coverage?

they knew the risks...they say that tiles of left wing was blown when space shuttle flew in january....after that scientists thought for days about that...after all the thinking they took a decision that 1 tiles in left wing won"t make any disaster...they didn"t know they"were wrong

there was no chance that space shuttle could b saved..about "atlantus"...i stilll say "no"....they need atleast a week for preparations of space shuttle..& there was no way they could fix the left wong....it was total sucide..sooo it was NASA"s mistake & NASA accepted it recently...

a lot of the technology in space shuttles are 25 years old + or somewhere around that age

by the time NASA saw that something had happened to the left wing, it was probably almost to late for them to abort and land

the shuttle program and the international space station are both in jeapordy right now
