I never said so. But it seems many here do. Especially the under-20-year-old British. I find that kinda funny, since people are always complaining about the American spelling.

I must say bad editing (ie 50 lines in one block) will irritate me more than bad spelling, and I won't bother reading.

I'll admit that I take a lot of time, and often edit several times the post in which I really want to get something through, from a joke to a serious opinion on an issue I care very much about, from irony to sarcasm. I take even more time as English isn't my first language.

It's actually not to please the reader or show him/her some respect - though I understand it might and that's fine - it's to make sure he/she understands everything I mean and feel so the conversation as a chance to go somewhere.

Bad spelling is not that annoying to me as I think it's the speller's problem if he comes out as a stupid cool wannabe. On the other hand I find it sad that such people don't understand how Language is a beautiful invention and a universal tool, in the exact same way music is, and refuse to use it as such be it on a message board.

You can pack a small sentence with much more sense and emotion with the appropriate words in the adequate position than with the first words and syntax that come to mind.

How nice does playing the guitar with messed up chords and wrong intervals sound? Not only does it sound awful, it doesn't make sense and carries no emotion. It's pointless.
Put it all in order to reflect your state of mind in the best way possible. You'll get some valuable returns and start sharing real meaningful moments.
What he said.

Well, it's not likely that you will be banned from JT, at least not because of your spelling. But then again, you won't be well treated I guess. I can't understand why you don't spell and write properly, what's the point? Perhaps you just are retarded, who knows.

I'm pretty sure he is. Nothing else would justify that sort of a stupid behaviour.

I'll never quite understand this need that some people seem to have to force everyone to conform to their standards

It's not about that. I don't want to misinterpret the person that I’m having a discussion with and find that rather hard not to do when they write like 3 year old kids (not saying my English is especially good). And it's rather obvious that gaz keeps on doing it just because he likes the reaction from us who dislikes his way of writing, and that is childish and shows how stupid he is.

Agree with Erik, noone is trying to conform anyone to their standarts, it's just that some find it funny to post in a certain style and that's just boring ....

They know it is annoying but they just go on because they see some of us react about that.

Why doing this ? i mean if they enjoy the board and want to discuss about things with other jt'ers they should make the effort or they won't find anyone to discuss with them anymore. What's the point of posting here if you don't have any discussion ?

It really isn't a matter of "people" forcing others to their standards. It's a matter of standards that are universal and some people refusing to conform to them. This is an English Bon Jovi message board and for many of the people that post here English is not their native language. It is difficult enough sometimes to deal with "standard" English but it makes it almost impossible when certain posters use whatever happens to be the latest cool trend of the moment. If people are interested in communicating with others here, some standards do apply. It seems pretty obvious that the person in question is not at all interested in communicating with anyone. He is much more interested in calling attention to himself.

Kathleen
