True, but in a text message, you only get 180 charactors. The more vowels you leave out, the more you can say...providing the recipient understands your slang of course....some of my mates use a lot of slang, but you get used to it pretty quick. I don't class it as lazy myself, it's just a better way of being able to squeeze an extra sentance (Or sometimes two! ) into a SMS.

Well actually you can send a lot more, just counts as more texts, and most short messages, like the one Carli used as an example, wouldn't hit 180 characters anyway. I'm not against all abbreviation, I've used a few in this message even, but only 'normal' ones and not pointless ones that only remove a few characters but leave the word unrecognisable.

A simple alternative to the limit of a text message is to use email. It isn't too difficult to set up, and you can send a much longer message, attach photo's etc and it costs less than sms, I use email a lot from my phone.

im not sure on this one.

yes it is easier to type in SMS language and alot faster.

but on message boards you should really type properly, but i dont because its boring typing full words out all the time. plus i suppose its universally accepted that words such as timing can cope with the letter 'g' ommitted

Yes, I do agree to some extent, but like I said above, if the recipient understands the slang as well...then it's not so bad....I would never send a text full of slang to a person I know wouldn't understand it. I think that is the difference.

Thanks

I do find myself sending more emails than text messages lately though, usually because the people I am sending to are at a computer so I can send longer messages cheaper. Most email accounts can probably be used this way, check out the settings pages and you'll probably find pop3 or imap information and how to enter it into your phone.
