I know you couldn't seriously imagine yourself there, but try. You wouldn't have gone to school (probably not), so you probably wouldn't "question the sanity of my parents".

I can imagine myself there, but why should I since I am not there? That is the weakness of humans: they consider other peoples feelings too much.

What species are you then? Are you a wild animal from Earth, or have you come down to Earth from somewhere else?

I am human, but only care about the people who I know and like. What I am saying that in general, humans' feelings get in the way of evolution.

I'm not really too emotional when it comes to people I don't know, but I suppose family is different.

I hate the way the RSPCA advertise with animals, making them look sad and lonely, to make you fork up. I think animals deserve help, but not in the way they get it, through those adverts.

Did this come out the way you meant it to sound? If so it's one of the most awful things I have ever heard.

I can honestly say that I don't care about all of the people starving and dying. You cannot say "What if you were in that situation?" the point is that I am not.
...So...Sort of an 'I'm all right Jack' attitude....Nice!

I'm not convinced u fully understand this epidemic in Africa / other 3rd world countries.........Yeah - they can just pop into the local pub & buy some condoms out of their loose change... Sanitation has never been better.....

Well...u spend so much money solving all the worlds other 'problems'. [/unquote]

Yeah.. and that's what should stop. If it were up to me we'd be selfish like most of the rest of the world and only worry about ourselves. icon_rolleyes.gif [/unquote]

Selfish like the rest of the world??? 3/4 of oil consumption...... No I won't go into this, however u r no less selfish than the next country (including mine).

I was mostly talking about on an individual basis. When I was in elementary school, twice a year our teachers gave us boxes to fill with money to send to some African country. Why? There ARE people in Zimbabwe (or any other country) who are much richer than I am. You don't see them sending money to people in the US who need it.
I take it u were living out of a cardboard box at that point then, with no access to running water, food, sanitation.......

Generally the 'richer' ppl in these countries r part of the problem, who wouldn't even give money to the starving; let alone some guy living in a developed country with all the opportunities they'll never have.

Yes.

I must say it is good to see a moderator with a bit of attitude. I like your new 'look'.

What I don't understand is why we Americans are seemingly expected to help people in so-called "suffering" countries before our own.
