A whole topic for us again!!!

I finished Angels and it was great. I finished Ralph's Party last night. It was good although I missed humour, it wasn't very funny, not like Marian Keyes can be... but I did enjoy it!! Thanks for the recommending!
I started on Rachel's Holiday this morning. It funny reading another book about the Walsh family.. I almost feel as if I know them!!
Have you started anything new? How are the exams going???

exams are finished now, only one oral exam left which is on june 2
i have read "the importance of being earnest" in the meantime. it's such a great play i admire oscar wilde for his writing abilities and social conscience

I love The Importance of being Earnest, it is one of my favourite plays. I've read it now maybe 5 times and it still makes me laugh!! Oscar Wilde was so perceptive and unbelievably witty. We had to read it in school and at uni, didn't mind at all... unlike some of the other things we had to read....
Have you ever read The Picture of Dorian Grey? He was so ahead of his time.. especially with the preoccupation with looks that there are today!

The Picture of Dorian Grey is great
It was the first play i saw in English, i absolutely loved it.
I haven't read it, but the play was really impressive,
great actors, but a very simple stage layout.
however, it all fitted perfectly.

Away from Oscar Wilde:
Have you ever read/seen "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf"?.
I can't remember who wrote it, but the play is really good!

Is Virginia Woolf the one with the 2 couples that keep fighting?? I think I've read it, but I'm not sure now.. I've seen the film, it's with Elizabeth Taylor and RIchard Burton... or am I thinking about Cat on a hot tin roof??
I'm getting very confused...

Yes, it's about those two couples fighting.
I thought it was great, even though quite depressing
I didn't watch the movie, but i have heard about it.
Did you study English Literature at university?

Kind of. I studied English and Education. It was a course that was half in the UK and half in Holland. The Dutch side was very focussed on Shakespeare and English greats and when we were in the UK, we could pick our on modules... I went then for the American Literature side!! But also Journalism and stuff like that. It was a great course and it entailed a lot of reading, which was good... as I like to read!
What are you doing?? Or are you reading all this for fun???!!!

I'm starting Uni in September, so I didn't do any of those books at school, i read them for fun
At school we read Paul Auster's "New York Trilogy", which I hated
Then "1984", I never really liked this one either (Christo and letitrock will disagree, but i found it dreadful ). Then we did "One flew over the Cookoo's nest" - we also watched the movie and saw the play to it. I liked it And of course we also did Shakespeare's "MacBeth"
But my favourite book of those we did at school was "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller.

I didn't like "1984", but then I'm not too into George Orwell. I just don't get it!
I did MacBeth at school too! It's by far my favourite Shakespeare play, that and Much ado about nothing. I saw MacBeth being performed.. dreadful performance, but it did help me to understand it better! I saw a few plays in Stratford too, if you ever get the chance see a Shakespeare play there (or maybe you already have!!)

I saw in another post that you liked The Neverending Story.. great book!!
