You have a problem with religion? Or sex?

That's so true (only I didn't know a thing about what Spunky was talking about ). Of course it was out of the question but she was dying anyway so what was the harm in accelarating the process? Surely she must have felt something, and not a nice feeling, I'm sure.

I was shocked to hear a few days ago that due to dehydratation her eyes were bleeding. Awful.

I'm sad because I think it was a horribly cruel way to kill someone.

Have you ever been thirsty? I mean really thirsty... unbearably so? Now think about going without liquid for 13 days. Think about what happened to her internal organs as she starved to death. She wasn't on any other form of life support. The feeding tube was it. They knew she had some brain damage, but not how much. There are likely kids in our developmentally delayed class who have less cognitive ability than she had. So, was she in that dying body thinking, "I'm hungry" or "I'm thirsty"? Starvation is cruel. When my great aunt was in a nursing home and refused to eat, she was told that it was the law that they would have to FORCE a feeding tube on her because they could not let her starve to death. I don't even know how they justified taking the feeding tube out after it had been in for so long.

I think her parents were right to try to save her life. Her stupid husband should have just divorced her and let her parents be responible for decisions and caring for her. But I guess then he wouldn't be ensured the money and the book deals and the movie deals. He's a sorry excuse for a human being. If he subjected a dog to that kind of death he would have been arrested.

And now what happens? Can anyone who becomes an inconvenience have their life support removed based on this case? What are the far reaching implications?

Becky

That is an extremely aweful thing to say Becky.

Ever thought about the fact that he was doing it for her? To give her peace? To do what her wishes were as she has expressed to him before the accident?

What money? What book deals? What movie deals?

I think her parents are a sorry excuse for human beings quite frankly. I think they are selfish and disgraced their daughters.

Let's see who comes out with the books first .....

Am I right to assume that you would rather vegetate in that state for the next 40 years instead of die????

I had a discussion with my ex last night about this and he claims that not one person would choose to live like her and I have to say, it would really surprise me.

Starving her was wrong but letting her live like that for 15 years wasn't exactly the kindest thing to do.
