Default Terrorist Attack - Explosions Rock Hotels In Jordan

I've been watching the news all day, here't he latest update..

Explosions rock hotels in Jordan

Wednesday, November 9, 2005; Posted: 2:57 p.m. EST (19:57 GMT)

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Explosions hit three hotels in the Jordanian capital Wednesday night, killing at least 18 people and wounding some 120.

The first blast occurred at about 8:50 p.m. (1850 GMT) at the luxury Grand Hyatt hotel, popular with tourists and diplomats.

Associated Press reporter Jamal Halaby, who was at the hotel, counted seven bodies being taken away. Police said there were many others injured.

A few minutes later, police reported an explosion at the Radisson SAS Hotel a short distance away. Police said five people were killed and at least 20 wounded.

Another explosion was reported at the Days Inn Hotel, and police said there were casualties.

Police had no word on what caused the explosions, although an American businessman at the Grand Hyatt said a bomb went off in the lobby. Witnesses saw smoke rising from the building.

Jordan, a close U.S. ally, has arrested scores of Islamic militants for plotting to carry out attacks in the moderate Arab kingdom.

It has also sentenced numerous militants to death in absentia, including the Jordanian-born leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

In July, prosecutors indicted five Jordanians in an alleged conspiracy to attack intelligence agents, tourists and hotels in Amman. Al-Zarqawi has not been linked to the alleged plot.

That's just horrible. In a way I feel scared because seeing how my father is in the Military, he's been to Jordan plenty of times and I'm pretty sure has stayed near some of those hotels and possibly in some.

Here's hoping there's a low casualty rate.

There's subhuman scum in this world, with nothing else on their minds but causing those who disagree with them suffering. They can be of any color and any religion, but they're scum because of their methods.

this one appears to have slipped under the radar but the aussie police arrested a handful of people yesterday apparently in the final stages of a plot for an attack on the aussie mainland

and on a serious note,

You're right, Aussie police have arrested 18 muslims (from Sydney + Melbourne), alledgedy planning to blow some aussies to "smitherines" as quoted on the front page of the paper... The media is fully into it, no doubt its going to cause problems with racism between muslims and 'aussies'...
There's quite a bit of hoopla surrounding it over here - the government have just rushed through changes to legislation regarding terrorism, 2 days after it was passed - bam. Gotcha terrorist psychos. - all a bit sus.
Don't really know what to make of it, these dudes arrested just seem like pretty confused /fanatical fundamentalists... I don't know. hmmm. Bang.

I think your going to get racism against muslims all over the world now . Even here in England they arrested some leaders of a mosque for handing out anti western beliefs . so when things like that happen you do think well which muslim is safe and which isnt?

It's not impossible...
This war between terrorists and the the countries in the west is getting out of hands.

This world needs understanding and justice, not more dead people.
