Default the 6 second abs society?

we've not had a good debate here in a while and since I'm still not going to do any studying yet i thought I';d try and start one.

it regards what i call the 6 second abs mindset where everyone expects everything instantaineously wether it's their coffee or their health....

this was spurned by a post I read on another forum I browse.

it goes:

I'm an 18 year old guy

I've been running 5 miles a day for 3 weeks and the past 4 days i've been only taking in 1500 calories which is like a quarter of my usual intake but I'm still fat, whats wrong?

seriously.... if this guy is taking on 6000 cals a day I'm at least assuming he's going to be a few stone overweight if not obese and he thinks burning off around 600 calories a day for 3 weeks and limiting his calories to 1500 for 4 days is going to make him super thin?

I usually link this to fitness as i said, i calle dit the 6 second abs syndrome. usher didn't get those abs working out for 6 seconds a day or whatever the crap is they spout at you and with stuff like all the fad diets and magazines perpetuating ideas of losing tonnes of weight in a week we expect things to come easilly and get frustrated when they don't and we actually have to put some work in... i told this guy to come back after working out for 3 months and he'll notice a difference. it'll be interesting to see if he keeps it up.

anyways as i said i usually link it to health and fitness because it's one of the most obvious examples but I think it shows a trend of society in general.... we want everything faster, better and easier and I think that it'#s makign us lazy and complacent at times when we come across stuff we can't get as easilly as modern life would like to make us think we could.

any thoughts?

probably not as interesting to discuss as religion or politics but it really does make me think now and again.
