maybe i should do a poll just amongst a very small sample population to say i'd like to kill a skinhead - if the majority say yes it doesn't mean i should do it

just as if i get phone calls (to my astonishment) telling me to go around college smashing peoples' computers i don't act on the majority verdict

i have some common sense and i'm no Nazi
Killing people and smashing other people's computers is illegal. If you want to smash something you paid for, this is your right.

the hyperbole was to show that it comes down to common sense at the end - and since people were tying this to free speech etc i thought it should be mentioned

let's face it not everyone has the time to phone a radio station, nor would many know of the poll, most people who don't want them banned would say "i don't want them banned but i don't need to phone up to tell them that" whereas you always get the conservative nutters who phone up cos they've nothing better to do who somehow thing they are doing a good deed for humanity...

not mine (since i'm a student) but my parent's taxes pay for skinheas to live their fascist lifestyles (generalisation i know) and so in a way we have bought them...

our state system means they belong to the state, and so can the state not dispense with its own property in order to protect the well-being of the state?

I think banning the Chicks based on what Natalie said is silly. If people are really THAT upset by it, then they'll stop buying their CDs and stop requesting their songs. They'll fall off the charts and then they won't get airplay.

The same end with a different means. You would see whether they truly had lost public support or just a faction of it.

Beautifully put!

exactly - let people boycott them themselves if they really want to, but don't have a radio show doing that for them

people can choose what to listen to, a radio station shouldn't make that decision

as the point has been made the radio station didn't decide...the listeners did. the stations simply put the poll forward

whether or not that is true is open to discussion but it strays from the argument slightly

To a London audience. That is childish. Let me talk against my president to an audience that I know will support me. Please!!!
