that american flag one is really powerful and emotive. its quite easy to forget that not all political cartoons are solely for comedy satire.


i wish i had a scanner. ive got some brilliant newspaper drawings regarding germany in the 30s from a previous class on 20th C western european history i done.

ill google some of them n see what i find.

The top line in the upper pic says as much as 'Progress according to the US'. The bottom line says 'Berlin, 1989'. The bottom line in the pic below says 'Mexican border, 2006'.

I love the 'walls" Alex. Why is it that we can see the absurdity of this - and the people in the government can't.

i cant find it on google but we're doing patriarchy in 20th C scotland as one of my uni classes now and one of the class overheads was a cartoon of a woman with her tongue nailed to a table with the caption: peace at last
