The catechism even says that speeding over 120 km/h is a sin!
But you can't take what he says all that "serious". It's just some kind of guidelines you should follow if you really believe in what he stands for. What I wonder is, if you belong to a religion whose head is not the Pope and sin without really knowing you are committing a sin... is that a sin? Will you go to Hell for that?
At any rate... most established religions have something "stupid". Not even Anglicanism is free of that - I mean Henry VIII founded his own Church because he wouldn't get the Pope to sign his divorce!!!
Religion is between you and God, IMO.
