Default The Euro

Ok - So the Daily Mail - being very right wing, anti-Euro, Pro War & full of crap.... has started up a campaign for a referendum on the Euro. The timing is good for this campaign because:
1. Jack Straw thinks we should delay it - TB doesn't.
2. The Anti-French hysteria childishly dredged up during the invasion of Iraq or.. Irarq as its now known.
3. They can use the excuse of TB taking a 'risk' with Irarq because he had Murdoch & USA on his side - but not with the Euro.

Main argument against the Euro seems to be:

We'll lose our sovereignty & control over Health service, roads, education... etc

My answer to this would be - what does our sovereignity stand for??
Shoody health service, poor public transport / roads, poor education system...

Well - compared to the rest of Europe anyhow - so why do we want to remain so far apart??

The only thing we'll lose control over is borrowing.

And the long-term economic consequences of the worlds 4th largest economy (which doesn't take into account its poor recent performance... Anyone tried getting a new job recently???) Of discouraging foreign investment (which would create jobs) is pretty suicidal!!

The Euro has been strongly gaining on the Pound, & foreign investment is threatening to pull out.

Views, issues, concerns??

Mike
