Default 'The evil bible' - plz read.. u wont believe this.

Okok, i saw this link and immediately thought that it was some sad little group of people with too much times on their hands trying to ridiclue the Bible, but i read a few of the articles on sight and now i dont know what to think The thing is, its not all made up trash, this site takes thousands of extracts from the Bible and highlights them...
I think myself as a christian and i honestly dont know wot to say to things like this.. anyone whos interested hav a read.
I know this can be a touchy subject, so anyone who doesnt want to be offended dont read it, simple as that.

http://www.evilbible.com/
and particluatrly; http://www.evilbible.com/why_i_am_not_a_christian.htm

Just as an example, theres many extracts right from the bible (coz im sitting with mine here open infront of me coz i was doubtful at 1st) that are just ..i dunno , heres one:

The Prince of Peace?

(Jesus speaking) "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man 'against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household'". (Matthew 10:34-36 NAB)

hmm. wot u guys think?
hope this topic isnt to heavy for this forum..but i browse here the most so thot id post it.

JBJ - I believe

I read the essay and don't know what to really think of it.He/She is giving opinions on quotes from the bible but how much of the bible do we actually know is for real??? and How much of the bible could be changedin this amount of time and how much could be lost in all the translations is gotten. I don't know but I choose not to believe the author of this essay nor hold the entire bible as fact.

the bible is a book it's not fact it's a book that people r meant to interperate.

if u can interpret obscure quotes to think it means u must be good and do this and this and this then u can just as easilly interpret it as being bad and wanting u to do this and that and believe X and Y

Show me that :

a)The Bible is real + God exists and Ill worship him and say what a good book it is.

b)That the evil bible is real and everything in it is and Ill worship (evil) God and say what a good book it is.

sayign that she does make very valid points.

why would an all loving merciful God create Hell for somethign as menial as not having faith?

the free will idea she points out is pretty fasir to say too

there's alot of good and valid points she brings up actually so everyone reads the 2nd links essay all the way through before u proceed to attack this thread.

Thought this was pretty cool to check out too. Calling the site the vilbible isn't exactly the smartest thing to do but i still reckon most of what the people r saying has a point and they're telling u their opinion based on reality

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

God does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezek 18:23). Like the prodigal son’s father, He wants everyone to turn from evil and live (Lk 15:11-24; Ezek 18:31-32; 33:11). Out of His love, He even gave His own Son to us so that we may have eternal life (Jn 3:16-17) and see the truth so that we turn away from evil, but in the end it is our own choice. While God offers everyone love and forgiveness, he does not force His love on those who do not want it. Because He loves us, He wants us to be free. We are given free choice to accept or deny God’s love. God does allow everyone to go to heaven, but not everyone chooses heaven. If a person chooses to sin and refuses to repent, he choose to reject God’s love. By rejecting God’s love, he chooses hell because hell in essence is the absence of God’s love. There is no other choice, since the only place where God’s love does not exist is hell. Fearing hell and its consiquences has nothing to do with not having free will. Some of us fear prison or even execution, but we still sin by stealing and murder. It is our choice to steal or kill or to sin, no one makes us do it. To sum it up, we choose our own destiny. God wants us to live and to not be punished, but it is in our hands not His.

did u read the part about the gun analogy?

and going to hell for not believing in God and going to hell for raping and murdering and children are pretty different matters don't u think?

u don't have free will if you go to hell cos u don't believe in God or accept God.

Yes you can still choose not to believe in God but how can God punish someone (send them to hell) for not obeying Gods wishes if we're supposed to have free will?

if we really had free will then there would be no repurcussions for not believing in God.

that's so stupid.

God is something you have to believe in without seeing feeling or touching.
And Jesus was a real person,it's proved, ain't that enaugh.

However, I agree with the people that made that site.
But i remember people having explained me that God in the old Testament was different and He has changed. On the other hand I really don't know why it was...i completly forgot.

However, God is in my opinion more good than bad if he exists or not!
