No offence faitheveryday, but your answers seem a little bit brainwashed to me, in my opinion. forgive me if im wrong, but the speels you come of with is like a kneejerk reaction to our questions about the bible/God.. did u actually read the stuf on this site? how do explain it? i certainly cant... i am a christian, and have my own ideas what god is. I cant bring myself to akkwnowledge the type of god that is depicted in numerous parts of the bible ; a mass murdering hypocrit in some instances.. and this isnt an opion, its all written there in the bible.
Im with Jimbonjovi, i believe in SOMETHING that is out there, or inside us.. a greater power of good, faith, hope and most of all love... not some surpreme dicator being who keeps all his brainwashed followers inline with false promises etc..

that's how i think most religions started. the people believed in something, some higher power, some different reality. (maybe they had good reasons to believe that, maybe they were right, maybe it was just because things happened arround them that they couldn't explain, a simple thunder storm to name a stupid example). i think the people there somehow weren't able to believe in something that they had no name for, or no idea of how it looked like, or wether it could even be seen or physicaly felt somehow. so they "invented" God, or more than one God.

we're now living in a time where believing in such a thing that you cannot even discribe doesn't sound crazy anymore, and that's why a lot of people (almost all the guys in my age that i know!) went back to that original thought and believe in "something".

i went at it from another point of view. i started with nothing, and believe only the things that i can prove myself, and because no miracle happend to me so far (well i had a lot of luck sometimes, but that's not what i call miracle) i still don't believe in anything like you describe above. the only thing i believe is that there are PHYSICAL things that we have not found yet (meaning no method found to measure them), but our body can "feel" it, just not as strong as all the other senses. some people call it the sixth sense. for example i really believe people can wake up at night and feel that their grandfather had died, even so he's miles away, cause i think (especially families) are somehow connected via some sense that we can't measure. maybe that sound stupid, but it's the only thing i really believe in, that could be called somehow "religious".

plus, like i wrote before, i believe that there is some good and some bad in everyone of us...

well the way i see it mreto.

to think that what we experience physically is all that xists int he world is just foolish in the same way people thought u could fall off the edge of the world and the sun revolved around earth.

but believing this immaterial presence is responsible for the creation of the world, can move mountains and basically do everything literally is just as foolish

I've never liked the god in the old testament - he is cruel and insane. But then, I don't take the bible as the truth either.

i wonder how many Christians, Muslims, Hindus etc.... would have different idea's if they could get their heads round the idea that the Bible isn't actually fact

agreed.

I went to a nun-school, so let's just say I wasn't particularly popular among the teachers I had to learn the hard way that it is not always in my best interest to express my opinions.

And how exactly do you know that this is a fact?

well at the moment the burden of proof is on yourself. saying some scientists came up with proof doesn't actually prove or mean anything. You give me some cold hard evidence of God existing and I'll get on my knees BUT since God is immaterial and not even belonging to the physical realm then i doubt your chances of proving me wrong on this one are high.
