Default The latest computer virus/hacker thing

Has anyone else's computer succumb to that virus/hacker thing going around that makes your computer shut down automatically? Mine started this Sunday. Last night I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical service and wound up having to loose EVERYTHING on my computer to try to fix it. This morning, I heard about it on the news.

You get a message that your system is going to shut down by NT Authority/System. It gives you a minute to save all your info and then it shuts down. If this is happening to you, you've got a problem.

that's shit.

kind of a sad existence when ur life revolves around making programmes to break people computers n make them lose things.

i mean fair enough big companies and institutions will have backups and stuff but for the punter on the street there could be alot of important stuff on their.

lol one of my best mates got caught trying to hack into an australian bank from a school computer. he wasn't serious about it or nothing just found a code nreaking programme n got thru a couple of systems but he got an email from this bank saying they'd caught him doing it and if he did it again they'd get interpol onto him.

Apparantly, you can get it just from being on the internet. I didn't quite understand what the guy meant and his accent was such that I could barely understand him anyway, so I gave up on understanding the whys of it. It's got something to do with a flaw in the Windows program.

It only affects XP's and possibly 2000's.

EDIT: Oh, and you can get it from being on the Internet, if you're not updated.

Here's a patch you need to fix your system:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre...n/MS03-026.asp

And download disinfection info from:
http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/msblast.shtml
