One thing they try to teach us in humanities class is that there is no universal thruth, everyone has their own thruth to deal with.
My thruth may not be the same thruth as your thruth and etc...
So yes noones life would have the same meaning but I think everyone at some point in their life asks themselves if we're all just born to die, or if one has led a full life.
Or an old man lying in his death bed might wonder if his life was worth while, or if he had the chance to do it over again would he do the same thing and make the same mistakes?

Thanks - me too.

I think that there is some meaning - but not a script or map. I think that we figure things out as we go along as to what is important to us personally - and then we try to reinforce those things that we like. Some people figure this out sooner - and some later. For me - as long as I have my family - my books and my music - I am a happy camper. Without books and music - I think I'd be pretty unhappy. My physical surroundings are far less important to me. I live in a nice place - but the status and importance of it is not terribly important to me.

to have lots and lots of babies!

but then i dont know why we have to complicate things even further by being really complex beings. if we were mere animals things would be so much more simple. everything is designed so we can procreate- thats probably the goal of life, but not necessarily the 'meaning' (if that makes sense at all)

things are made a lot harder because humans are just too darn clever for their own good. we have feelings that **** everything up

What about the people that can't procreate?
Do their lives have no meaning?

I don't.
I think one should put meaning into their life themselves ... otherwise a life is just a waste of resources.
I'm happy with life. I do a course I like, I have good friends, despite being a pain in the arse at times, my family is great. life is good, i don't exactly think that everyone has to strive to reach some sort of goal. Maybe being content with life is the meaning?

I'm content.

I agree. Unfortunately my only taste of true love brings a sour taste, but then I'm young and have a lot ahead of me.

Also ambition. To seek the challenge in everything you do. Give everything your best shot because you might not get another shot, and you get out of life what you put into it (in most cases).

maybe being a loving son/brother/friend puts meaning into the family unit - brings cheer to the household and circle of friends, pretty good stuff if you ask me..... (who says that is less worthy than trying to save the world?)

i think each individual hast to find their own meaning for being alive, its not a general concept, and its different for everyone, being it having children, finding love, helping others, dedicate to god, etc... its mainly finding happiness in my opinion. and personally im yet far from finding it i think
