For your Gastro you should get a valium injection, you wont be knocked out properly but you wont remember what happens.

The weirdest feeling you will have is when they spray anes into the back of your throat so it goes numb, just prior to the valium injection.

Your going to go through lot of emotions in the next few weeks from feeling down to angry, you will get through this. There are support groups out there to help with lots of different health problems, you should try and contact some of them it will help you to have as much info as possible about what is going on.

We will all be here for you.

Dawn

unfortunately i get no such luck as both spray and sedation...i get one or the other. and the stuff they gave me to read about it makes it sound like the same stuff they used for the last test they did, which had virtually no effect.....

thank you everyone for your kind comments...

Both my grandma and a neighbor had the gastroscopy done. They were both knocked out for it. The doctors said you have to be, otherwise your gag reflex won't let it go down.

yeah thats generally where the spray comes in- it completely numbs your throat so you cant move it.. from what i can tell from all my med student friends they dont like using GA anymore... i dont have a date for it yet though but the nurse said it would be asap- thats the bit thats slightly worrying me i guess... cause they dont rush you if its not serious... i found that out with the colonoscopy... and i really dont like the idea of going through the whole process every three years for the rest of my life.... which is another thing the doctor said on wednesday- cause of what they found i have to have checks at least every three years... if i live to be 80 thats another 20 of all of this.... lol... so much for my immune system eh? everyone said it was really strong, like when i took 24 hours to get rid of (confirmed diagnosis by a doctor) german measles as opposed to 2 weeks...

its just so surreal - like im 19.... and im not thinking of the cliche of "i thought it would never happen to me" but more of the its really unusual- the hospital have admitted that... hence referring me to genetics.. cause none of the stuff they found is hereditary even though that is the case for almost all people under 30 with the same things as me...
