I agree. Webber forgot how early you need to brake in a Lotus.

Saftey car rules do seem a bit unfair. I don't understand why just say that no-one can pit when the safety car is about to be employed. It's not like fuel is a factor.

Gotta agree with this.
I thought the rule was stupid when there was refuelling and they wouldn't allow anyone into the pits. I remember Heidfeld getting a penalty for doing this cos he would have ran outta fuel otherwise. Which was just stupid.

But now, no refuelling, they should close the pits when there is a safety car.

Was so happy to see Mark Webber win today. Wish Vettel hadn't finished in the points at all. Although I know it wasn't his decision to take the wing, he still was just too annoyingly....have no idea the word am looking for here.

Would love to see Mark outta that team but there really isn't anywhere else for him to go.

Great drive from Rubens too.

Think Alonso's penalty was very harsh. He got the same penalty for crossing over a kerb that Hamilton got for overtaking a safety car.

Not a good Ferrari day. At all......

There is a real frostiness between Webber & Vettel as shown by the tentative handshake at the end. Red Bull haven't managed it well at all & I'm glad Mark won (on this occaision)

I was really surprised that Alonso didn't give the place back straight away. He gained an advantage illegaly. If he'd given the place back he wouldn't have been punished. The most similar incident like this is back in Spa with Hamilton & Raikonen. Hamilton went off in exactly the same circumstances, gave the place back and still got penalised after the race when Raikonen didn't finish. I seem to remember Alonso supported that penalty - he can't have it both ways.

It was just unlucky that the safety car came out at that point, but still if he'd given the place back straight away he wouldn't have lost out.

And to be fair, while Hamilton technically overtook the safety car it wasn't as clear cut as that - circumstances dictated the impact of the penalty.

Ferrari reckon Alonso is calm and accepts the punishment

It's his problem with his paranoia that nothing is ever his fault, if he had just given the place back he wouldnt have been penalised, but oh no Fernando was forced wide. Ever since his year at Mclaren he has been mentally screwed.

Delusion again from Nando!

Good to see Webber win, despite Red Bull being yet more blatant with their seb-vet loving. Good drive from Button and Lewis, more points for Koba but even better a point for The Hulk

I really dont like Alonso. He is so paranoid that everyone is against him. Its clear he used that just to gain a place. He should have given the place back, he knows the rules as well as anyone else.

Silverstone was a great race!! I'm a bit of a Webber fan so I was really happy that he won, and LOVED his comment afterwards, not bad for a number 2 driver!!!

Great drives by the British boys too, I was lucky enough to meet Jenson weekend before last, I was VERY excited!!!!

Apparently Race Control advised Ferrari to give the place back immediately:
