The Passion: an opinion on it's "anti semitist" co

Now i was on my home from the gyma nd started thinking about this mel gibson film again. to be totally honest at 1st it really didn't sound like anything I would be interested in but the more I hear about it the more likely I am going to see it.

NOW it's well documentated that alot of Jews have been labelling it anti semitic because it depicts the Jews as the people who wanted Jesus dead etc....

now here's my point I'm going to make.

I disagree with the Catholic Church in just about every way possible but I'm open minded enough to accept that it's what someone believes and I shouldn;t take that away from them.

Now what I'm pointing out here is that Mel Gibnson is a born again Christian/ Catholic and his religious writings ie the Bible say that it was indeed the Jew's who wanted Jesus dead.

Mel Gibson is portrayign what his religion deems as true just the same as other religions did but the Jews are tryign to silence it and basically say his views are wrong and void etc...

So do you not think that the Jew's are actually being more anti catholic than gibson being anti semitist?

I think it's insane for people who have not seen the movie to be in an uproar about it. The majority of these anti-Semitic comments have been prior to the movie's release. Since it's release, I haven't heard anyone talking about it who called it anti-Semitic--and I've heard a lot of people talking about it while I flip through radio stations in the morning driving.

I haven't seen it yet myself. But I think it's like saying that a movie is anti-Caucasion because it depicts the atrocities committed against a Black man by a group of White men. A rational person is not going to judge an entire group of people by the actions of a few.

But, anyway, your point seems valid to me (keeping in mind I have not seen the movie and am speculating). Mel Gibson made a movie based on the teachings of his church. If there's a problem, it's probably with the church and not simply with the movie itself, it's just the movie is bringing the issue that already existed to light.

i think it pretty ironic and very hypocritical of Jews to be calling it anti semitist while they're basically saying what the Catholic Church teaches is bullshit.

I dont give a shit about the ****ing film, wish everyone would shut up about it to be honest

It's a great film though!! One of the best that I have ever seen, and it is not only b/c it is about Jesus either.

It makes a change from him not having a pop at the English!!
