I like how Mel chose to have the characters speak Aramaic, which was the language that the historical Jesus spoke. I think it makes the whole thing more realistic. I also don't have a problem with subtitles. I think its kinda cool to watch movies in a foreign language, it makes the movie more interesting.

I LOVE watching films in the original version. Dubbings are always wrong...

Back on topic - I don't think I'll see this film. Don't like religious films, don't like violent films... So, apart from the subtitles :P , I don't see how I may like it...

I'm with you. I probably won't be seeing this one. Hate to see a movie that I already know the ending to. Never saw Titanic either. Also I like to see movies that I can sit back with the bag of popcorn and enjoy and not feel like I've been beaten up through it! Not against violent movies but this one looks like it goes over the top. Just my opinion.

I really want to see this movie. Usually I'll wait for just about any movie to come out on DVD,but I don't think I can wait for this one. Gotta find someone to watch the kiddies so my husband and I can go see it.

Bring a box of tissues! I didn't think I was going to cry, but I couldn't help myself.

Default Subtitiles

The fact that this film is in Aramaic makes it even more meaningful, the subtitles really make this movie, just the sound of the language. Amazing. I cried... I feel this movie will have at least some kind of deep impact on every person who views it.

"The Passion" of Jesus = the last hours of His life, His crucifiction and then resurection.

It is very violent, but violent towards one individual.

but as JC said "Forgive them Father, for they no not what they do." ...

peace guys, when people start to see this film, it would be great to start up a good topic about it!

I heard the Howard Stern reviews and it seems quite violent. I don't like violent movies Also, they said that the jews were always portrayed in bad way and never in full frontal view but mostly in profile.

True?

I don't think I'll watch it until it is on DVD so I can fast-forward or do something else at the same time. I really don't like violent movies.

I'm with you. I probably won't be seeing this one. Hate to see a movie that I already know the ending to. Never saw Titanic either. I think sometiomes violence is needed maybe for the plot. But violence for violence sake is a no-no with me. We all know he ot those nails into his hands, etc. and we all can imagine it was painful and scary, and whatever. Do we need to actually see it and recreate on it? I don't think so! And I'm not against it because it's about Jesus or anything. I always say that Braveheart is as far as I get when it comes to violence.

Also there are ways where you can convey something without really making it so explicit.

I'll probably wait until they show it on TV, then I'll watch it and switch off TV if I don't like what I see. But I don't think I'm paying to watch it
