the whole idea of going to the pub is to get drunk. how many thousands of people r out on every cities streets drunk most nights of the week?

it's illegal up here to actually drink out in the street but unless ur so drunk you're a danger to yourself then they don't bother.

had we been knocking over bins (as we have been known to do) kicking in bus shelters or trying to start fights then fair enough give us hassle but when we're doing **** all waiting for a taxi they have no right to be takign the moral highground as if they're just doing their duty when in reality they're just sitting on their arses having an easy shift.
I suggest to lay off the drinking a bit - You're going to land yourself in jail someday :P
But, i see where you're coming from with the 'on-duty' cops. I could only imagine what it would be like if all cops were like that.

spending a night in the cells is just another little marker on the long road to become a man.

just like buying your first pint, joining the gentlemens club (to put it nicely) learning to drive and watching a porno to name but a few.

Well, i'm glad that you can have some fun in Sheffeild, because here; you're busted quick and you're busted hard. People have been jailed for walking down the street with a swaggering drunken walk; public drunkeness is taken to serious here The police here can be too hard; i think the problem is that we have too many police occupying such a little town.

And here, in my town, there's nothing better for the cops to do -- it's a place with a relative low crime rate...therefor they pay attention to the little things.

well there u have it. you can get police with nothing to do in a small place that'll do you for anything. alternatively you can live somewhere like here with shit goin on all the time (thanks to a gangland fued we've had close to 10 murders in the past week and a half) who let little things slip.

u see the dude in Manchester that got smashed by a cop?

got a wierd feeling it's somehow going to be a 2racially motivated attack" since of course all our coopers are fanatical racists and they never get rough with white guys
