In general it isn't expensive, just certain things are.

2 months, Japan.
Like gas! But I guess that's the same everywhere, these days.

Off to Japan! You really get to see the globe. Are you a student?
No, I am just not boring.
Ah, so you're either independantly wealthy, or a travelling salesman!
No. Anyone can do what I am doing by just doing some research on the internet. A working visa for Canada can be easily obtained from several places. Getting a job in Japan is just as easy if you are fluent in English. Why people choose to stay in one country all of their life is beyond me.
I fully agree. This is beyond me, too. I think I'm moving to Austria to go to University there. If not Austria, it will be Italy

You're young, KRB. Eventually you'll settle down, have kids and end up staying in one place. Or maybe not. I knew a computer programmer who started travelling the world and working the year he turned 40!

What other countries have you worked in? Or hope to someday? Which was your favourite?

Just Canada and England. I have spent 20 weeks in Washington DC too, but they were just holidays. I used to like working here, but the TTC made me change my mind. The people who run that joke of a transport service need to be burned alive. Japan will be my favourite since I have already been and know that I like it.

I've never lived in TO, but whenever I've visited I've thought the TCC worked quite well. I mean, unless you're travelling to Scarborough or something, then you're in for a long scenic trip. Believe me, compared to the transit system here in Halifax, the TCC is perfect, albeit a bit "sardine car" crowded at times.

Not so. There are quite a few pubs/lounges/bars in Edmonton that serve food and drinks up until close. (2 am). Your experiences may have been unlike this, but not every bar is the same here, and out west things are possibly different. What is so serious about this situation? It's not like we're a third world, poverty stricken country because we can't get some nachos after 10 pm at the local pub. :P
Sorry, I meant to say you cannot buy food in pubs at any time of the night. At night time, pubs are for drinking in, not eating. The fact you can go into any bar and order food any time of the night is what makes it a bar, and not a pub.

I see. I never knew the difference.

In the beginning, Canada was England's little brother. So it was copied.I had nothing to do with it. Is there an Edmonton in the UK?

The explorers may have been brave and adventurous, but they weren't very creative when it came to naming new places. Then again, they also had to deal with large egos of the rich folks back home. Halifax was originally named Chebucto, but some Lord Halifax guy back in London decided to name it after himself!

Don't know the history of Scarborough.

And I can bet you don't have any places called Shubenacadie or Stewiacke?
