- the only word in the english language which ends in '-mt' is dreamt;
- the acronym I.O.U. actually stands for 'Is Owed Unto';
- a peanut is not a nut, it is a legume;
- the average UK salary is £25,000. if you earn this you are richer than 97% of the rest of the world (obviously in salary terms, not capital etc)

Who the hell ever heard of a subbookkeeper anyway.

Useless fact - the space between the top of the wine and the bottom of the cork is called Ullage

Useless fact - On Fridays in lent Catholics may not eat meat, but may eat beavers and capybaras, which are designated as fish apparently by the church.

I'll tell my mum She takes that no-meat thing in Lent very seriously. Fortunately now she lets me eat what I want regardless of the day.

Apparently that no-meat on Fridays thing should apply to every Friday though.

I think you can also eat Puffins too, they are classified fish aswell. Apparentley in Venezuela they eat 400 tonnes of Capybara during lent (I heard this on QI lol)

**edit**

They eat 400 tonnes per year, not just in lent lol

Isn't a bookkeeper already the lowest form of a bean counter? What exactly is a sub to do then?

Apparently having to fast in Lent was a reason why monks (in Germany, at least) began making their own beer, as it filled them up when they couldn't eat. A very clever and tasty bending of the rules! lol
