What makes me feel old?

People younger than me that seem to have "achieved" something: singers, writers, football players.

Yep, I find that very depressing, like I've never done anything relevant in my life... which is probably true, though.

I feel old everytime I go to a disco at week-end. There are always only a few people at my age and sometimes some who are 1 year older and still live here because they do their military service or civilian service. Almost everyone else is younger, most are 14 or 15. But I can go whereever I want, it's always the same. There are rarely people between 16 and 50. They all move as soon as they can. Like Keeper said, even younger people have done something with their life. It's depresing when I see 16 year old people who have moved, got a job and their own money and usually most of them already have a (relatively) long lasting relationship.

Yes, but the problem is you see these people on TV and they seem to be doing something with their lives, seem to achieved this big goal, but why do you think you haven't? Obviously I don't know you, so don't know what your dreams are, but everyone has 2 types of goals/dreams in life; realistic goals and fantasy lives.

Everyone dreams of being on TV or being a singer, or a sports personality, but very few achieve it. Other than that people have dreams which may seem much less grand, but can be so much better.

I for instance would love to have been an astronaut or an actor or singer or something, but I know that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't do it, so instead I aim for something I could do. Not the easy way out, just the possible route.

I have started studying Architecture this year, and know that if I apply myself I can pass the course and have a full career; not just a job, but a career. Something that I like doing.

I know and the truth is that I don't like most of these people, and I do agree with what you're saying.

Still, I don't think I have done that much really. I finished my degree last June but still have to hand in two final papers in order to been a real translator / interpreter. At work I just do what the other people don't want to do because it's just silly (renaming files, and organisiing files, etc). I don't really want to be on TV or anything, I just want to do what I like, enjoy what I do in life and currently that's not the case. I hope to achieve it, though
