Sure they are.
Us (women) have to cope with everything sick or not ! kids, housework and work. If we're not at work because of a cold or something like that we'd be juged as fragile thing but if a man for the same cold can't go to work people would simply say oh poor him if he's not there it's because he must feel really bad !
We already have to miss some days at work sometimes cause a child is ill for example so we try to not miss when we're ill ourselves.
No need to say when a child is ill mum stays at home and can't work, not dad !

Having at home a man who's ill is worse than having a child at home who is ill !
