That's what I think too. People see Rock 'N' Roll and Rock as the same genre, but I think they are 2 different ones. To me Rock 'N' Roll is Elvis, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, something out of the 1950's and 1960's, whereas in the 1970's Rock was born, bands more like Led Zepplin, Queen, Aerosmith etc.

well despite the fact rock came from rock n roll, we'll overlook that if you're going to be pedantic.

using neil's example. when did led zep and bowie turn to bon jovi and the foo fighters? genres evolve over time. old r n b and motown is still the same but new r n b is just a progression of it. doesn't mean you have to like it.
