this may be true where you come from, but as a general statement definitely not.

over here after a while, the "better" students go to a school that lasts 3 years, while the other ones go to a school that lasts 4 years. they learn exactly the same things, only the "weaker" students have one year more to learn it.

so if there are more weak students the expectancy rises, even so that doesn't mean that the people know more afterwards, and it is actually a rather bad sign, cause it means we have more weak students.

Why would bad schools last longer? It's easy to see that the longer you spend in school the more you learn.

Ice
I wouldn't draw a conclusion like "bad schools last longer". All that was suggested is that longer schools don't mean better education. Bad schools may last just as long. Though you may get a much better quality education at a shorter school.

I have friends that spent 7 years at college to get a Bachelor degree, did they learn more as I did in 4? Absolutely not. They just never passed those darn tests , hence had to add a few semesters.

i didn't say bad schools last longer. i only said, ... well simply read it again:

another example are people that have to repeat one school-year. does this mean thy reach a higher level? no! even so they will spend more time at school.

when i say "this letter is no A" (actually i only said: "i'm not sure whether this is really an A", but that's a detail) you afterwards claim that i said it was a "B", just ignoring all other possibilities.

of course i DON'T think bad schools last longer, i only think that the level people reach and the time they spent to reach this level are more or less independent. the level will be different in every county anyway, so people who spend 10 years in a school in one country don't know exactly the same things as people who went to school 10 years in a totally different country. the levels won't even be the same in two different schools in one country.

i don't know why you read so many weird things in my posts.

Won't you stop interpreting everything as a dig at you? I quoted you perfectly, nothing wrong with the quote. I asked you a question, you didn't answer.

Very few people will ever repeat classes. That's probably around 1% of people. And still, even if you are repeating a class, you still learn more, which was my point (and the point of repeating a class). The longer you stay in school, the more you learn. There are exceptions, but very few.

Huh? You're really loosing it...

Maybe you just post weird stuff and ignore anything that anyone says.

Depends on the level. Of course not many people have to repeat one of the first years of their groundschool, i agree. but for example at university, that's something normal. Here it's about 30% to 60% that don't pass the tests when they try it for the first time. (depending on the university and depending on the faculty etc. etc.) they all have to repeat at least one year!
