Two questions

Women have so many clothes making it impossible to decide what to wear because they can never be seen in the same garment twice!!

Men don't put dirty clothes in the wash basket because they can bear to be seen in the same thing twice (because wearing some things once does not make them necessarily dirty )!

Oh and btw, when I leave my clothes strewn around the room, contrary to the female belief that you can never find anything that way - I know exactly where each and every sock, tee-shirt, pair of jeans and pair of boxers is to within 5cm!!!

I have to have at least 25 males answer the question: Why do women spend so much time deciding on what to wear?

Because they don't grasp the simple concept that jeans and black shoes go with anything ergo why guys can get ready in 10 minutes.

A more sociological reason from MY point of view. It isn't so much that guys expect women to lookg ood, more that women have convinced themselves that this is the case ie they've told themselves for so long that they need to be presentable cause thats what guys want that they pretty much regard that as fact whereas the sad truth of it is that to guys it just looks like you've put in a little more effort and that;s if you're lucky. It's not that we don;'t care or notice, just that the idea of us wanting women to be constantly tarted up is way blown out of proportion.

Womens magazines are one of the biggest perpetuators of this myth.

There's also the fact that women tend to be ALOT more competative about stuff like this than guys. Women will make a point of not wearing the same thign as someone else or get freaked out if one person out of 1000 in a club has the same shoes as her etc... guys don;t really care to be honest.

Finally women are alot more insecure about there looks. well they show it more anyways. Guys can be insecure but either don't care enough to do much about it or just hide it alot better then women can.

Why do men leave their clothes all over the floor instead of putting them in the hamper?

Because their mothers have always picked up after them when growing up , it takes at least 3 mths to train a man to pick clothes off the floor.

Erm not everyones mum would pick thier clothes up. More likely scream at the top of thier voice for the guy to do it themselves.

For starters I think that the amount of clothes a woman has to choose from is irrelevant. If a woman only had two outfits she most likely would still stand there for a good twenty five to thirty minutes picking between the two. As for why a woman would do this, for hope of get other girls jealous. Most men believe that women dress up for them (sadly mistaken) women dress up to show other women that they are better then them. The only time a girl dresses up for a guy is if there is another woman in the room. Women have this understanding that if you look “sexy” you have succeed in your morning mission and you have enough confidence and self-a-steam to face the world. This feeling for an average girl lasts about 2 to 3 minutes. For an attractive one, maybe 5 to 10 on a good day (if there are a less people outside). Once a girl sees another girl who is also dressed “sexy” they become self conscious and this is usually followed by a “Slu*” or a “Whor$” remark to make themselves feel better because the other girl apparently took “too long” getting ready. This obsession with clothes and looking better then other women continues throughout life for a woman from when she is a little girl until she reaches middle age and then is grasping on to her youth like a winning lottery ticket. And while these women are in a struggle to make other women jealous and as result making them as appealing as an un-flushed toilet men are looking at the girl who only took 1 minute to get ready and has a beauty that doest center around make-up and clothes.

Why do men leave their clothes all over the floor instead of putting them in the hamper?

Bad habit from their mother first.
Then it's because they don't go to the bathroom before going to bed. But directly to the bedroom. So once they're near the bed they just take their clothes off and jump in bed. Too cold/tired/lazy to spend another minute doing something else, like .. for example putting their clothes in the hamper. Or maybe they'd do it if it was just near the bed But hey are so lazy .........................................
And they don't do the washing so they have no idea of how easier it is when clothes are in the hamper !
I teach my kids to do it, if clothes are not in the hamper they won't be washed, as simple as that ! same for the husband ! try it girls

In my defence. When I come in from work or the OTC my stuff goes straight into the hamper and all my clothes in my room end up there sooner or later.

But maybe that's just cause I'm a metro sexual modern man. i can't vouch for the rest of the superior gender.

Why do women take so long to get dressed up?

Personally, I think they're more interested in their looks and/or clothing. I think they must view their options as more complicated than men. I also think they're more interested in how they look, not necessarily clothing wise, but the whole picture.

I think Jess is right. I have a husband and 2 sons and none of them leave their clothes all over the floor. I am not my husbands mother - I am his partner. I don't pick up his clothes - I never have. My sons learned after a certain age that it was their mess to deal with, not mine. If their clothes stayed on the floor and didn't get washed, there was nothing clean to wear to school (or baseball or anything else). Simply letting the punishment fit the crime took care of most of the problems. Also, when all 3 kids were younger they took turns doing the laundry too, so they understood the problems of taking care of themselves.
So - I guess in answer to your question Becky, I'd have to say that it's cultural conditioning, mostly by the Mom.
