If you go to New York City, you will see signs proclaiming it as the capital of the world.
Maybe in the lobby of the Empire State Building, I don't know, but all over NYC. No, there are not.

Goose, I think your teeth are lovely.

Of course they may have known KRB was coming, and decided to quickly hang them up in anticipation of his arrival.

Now, there was a sign upon entering Sayreville that said, "Welcome To The Boyhood Home Of Jon Bon Jovi."

Oops...off topic again. :P

Mousebounce doesn't seem to understand that because she is American, then she probably wouldn't notice if it said "New York, the capital of the world", but anyway, as you walk around you will see comments like this on the occasional billboard, on leaflets that are handed out to promote a tour, written at famous tourist sites etc.

Even lonely planet mentions it: (from http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinat...ttractions.htm)

They don't come any bigger than the Big Apple - king of the hill, top of the heap, New York, New York. No other city is arrogant enough to dub itself Capital of the World and no other city could carry it off. New York is a densely packed mass of humanity - seven million people in 309 sq miles (800 sq km) - and that's just Manhattan, only a part of greater New York City. All this living on top of one another makes the New Yorker a special kind of person. Although it's hard to put a finger on what makes New York buzz, it's the city's hyperactive rush that really draws people here.

Guess you have never been to upstate NY?? Anyway, yes, there are parts that are overcrowded and such, hence the fact I live in Jersey. But, it does get a bad wrap. How many riots have happened there due to sports, oh let's see not one. When the Rangers beat the Canucks who rioted, oh Canada did. Same thing in other areas of the US. For how many years the Yankees have won or lost, nothing has ever happened in NY. NYC is a great city to visit, I just wouldn't want to live there.

I really don't think so. I haven't heard one word about it. My bro. works in Manhattan and a lot of my husband's family is there. That is the first I've heard of that.
